Stories about displacement
Fotogalerie Friedrichshain
31 Jan – 21 Feb 2025
Wohnst
du noch?
The participants in the reportage photography course, led by photojournalist Ann-Christine Jansson, photographically explored the topics of gentrification and displacement from various perspectives.
How is Berlin changing? Which people are affected by displacement? How is coexistence in the neighborhoods changing? Which shops and initiatives are about to disappear? Who is making money from it? What does protest against gentrification look like?
The photographic narratives invite you on a visual journey through a Berlin in transition:
From an unscrupulous business model with a housing shortage and a real estate industry looking for super returns and big deals, to apartment buildings threatened with demolition, from a Lichtenberg community project to Kreuzberg dogs and Neukölln bones, from the transformation of a Wedding shopping street to a queer house project in Prenzlauer Berg to the uncertain future of a Neukölln film school.
A catalog will be published for the exhibition.
Guided tours and a panel discussion will take place as part of the exhibition.
